In Tech there is a slow down. The newness of systems caused additional work hours. The adjustment did create some new jobs due more in- depth knowledge of cost control. The jobs this created were primarily lower scale people. The managerial scale not changing much in most companies but the material being brought to light was vast in volume. Thus internal workings of many companies i know of became more costly but the consumer sales did not increase commensurately with the internal cost.
I agree with you about Tech as i think many smaller companies have more system than they need. They aren't going to upgrade when the system might be astral but the profit has turned out to be that of the dark ages.

I think this slow down is going to cause much question. As your daughter moves to the mid west numerous people in more expensive areas are going to be asking how many hours in a day must i work and where is life. There always was a sector of the populous that worked close to a sixty hour week but this is coming close to all of the populous trying to make ends meet now and dreams of freedom are now more like slavery to jobs.

The new economy will see some growth will take place in the mid west. The larger percentage of of growth due to buying power will transpire outside this nation.

The difficulty in outside and free trade is trustworthy sources. In order to save costs we hire less costly. There is a human element of past culture. This we forget as we are blinded by greed ourselves and constantly trying to reduce costs. This street smarts is neither right nor wrong, it is a way of life that is filled with dot coms a little less futuristic in products but never the less the same amount are on the band wagon for new riches. To me there is a very high chance of another dot com bubble of a different nature.
