Nuke plants run at near full power all the time they are running. They are base load machines and are very seldom trimmed back on slack demand. Coal and gas are trimmed back to adjust to demand. Nuke plants go off line for refuel and maintenance in the spring (feb-may) and fall (sept-oct). Fossil plants go off line after the spring nuke outages and before the fall outages. Additionally Nuke outages are coordinated/staggered on a nationwide basis because there are not enough nuclear workers to work very many plants at the same time. Hence the last of the fossil plants are now finishing up their turnarounds and coming up to meet increasing summer air conditioning loads. This will be reflected in the decrease in NG injections within a few weeks.
