It hit the fan in the third quarter of 81, just shut down. I moved over to computer sales and a few years later bought a gorgeous 3500 sq.ft. home with property in bayou blue for 88,000. It was a time to buy if had cash or credit. For Sale signs and empty homes everywhere.

The water project cut directly through the southern bunkers. No markers or historical signs, just cane fields and residential homes along the teche. I would love to take some underwater equipment and work the teche. The cane farmer who gave me permission to relic hunt, told me that years ago, they would stack up the cannon balls down by the bayou after plowing and shot put them into the teche to get rid of them. Last time I went I found a dozen round balls, pistol balls, and slugs in about an hour before it started raining. This is most definitely a fall or winter activity. Some areas along the teche nearby are overgrown, wet, full of snakes and hot in the summer. I will dig out my references and give you a brief synopsis of the battle.
