a little more reasoning - just as it makes sense to get into a stock that you think will go up a lot before it gets crowded with momentum buyers, it also is wiser to short what you believe is an overvalued stock before it becomes a "crowded" short. A crowded short can be dangerous due to short squeezes and/or improving fundamentals, just like being long a momentum stock when the music stops. I suggest that your fear that profitable shorting will become next to impossible due to more awareness of the AREM stratagy is more likely tied to a tendency to focus on what are crowded shorts. Establishing a balanced portfolio with long and short positions, or even all shorts or all longs takes more work than reading Herb, or a few chatroom threads.
