OT to G. re Y2K and Yardeni:

G.,

Dr Ed is an economist. With Y2K he strayed much too far from his circle of competence and blew it, big time. Anticipated IT problems seldom cause even a ripple. It's the unanticipated ones such as the WCOM Tech screwing around with the network in the middle of the day that lead to disasters. [While experience can add value, I would sincerely hope that this specific tech is allowed to ply his(her) newfound experience at a new company where (s)he can do much less damage.]

You seem to appreciate Dr Ed's economic insights - his area of strength. daryl seems to extrapolate Dr Ed's foolish venture into IT forecasting to all of his work. Hopefully, Ed better understands his limitations; and may even win daryl's praise going forward.

my 2¢ worth,
Ian.
