Amkor Warns Revenues to Shrink More Than Expected

dailynews.yahoo.com

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Amkor Technology Inc.(NasdaqNM:AMKR - news), a semiconductor packaging and test equipment provider, warned Monday its second-quarter revenue would shrink more than it had previously expected from first-quarter levels due to excess capacity in the sector and sluggish demand.

The West Chester, Penn.-based company said second-quarter assembly and test revenues for the quarter ended June 30 would be about $350 million, or 30 percent lower than the $481 million it recorded in the first quarter.

The company said April 26 second-quarter revenue would be between 15 percent to 20 percent lower than its first-quarter revenue. It announced then that it would cut 10 percent of its work force.

The company will release its second-quarter earnings July 24.
