Oh, here's an example of a government that is perpetually held accountable to its own law. The banking lobbyists are working hard to resist efforts to close the offshore banking loopholes that allow the likes of Citibank to continue working the shell game for wealthy clients who manage thereby to avoid US taxes to the tune of $70 Billion a year. Is that your idea of "productive" lobbying? The law also allows Citibank to launder money for some of the biggest criminals on the planet. Now that's what I call keeping your government in check! And guess what, Bush agrees!
