Hydro availability is getting less and less. BPA today announced a 46% increase in the cost of wholesale power effective October 1. The local PUD estimates a 20% increase in the local rates. BPA is attempting to get the large corporate farms to give up power similar to the aluminum companies. Having lived in eastern Washington for 22 years, this is the first year for irrigation water water rationing. The water has already been turned off for 4 days. The long range forecasts indicate reservoirs may not even fill up this winter. The food processing industry, farming and manufacturing are starting to hurt. The local PUD has joined with a power company to purchase xxx(I forgot) kw-hrs, much to the dismay of the BPA. The hydro availability is not going to get better anytime soon.

Hi, I have been traveling in the Pacific Northwest and southern Alaska, and in fact visited the Bonneville dam a couple of days ago. The rainfall shortage and squeeze on hydro power is quite real. People are angry at California "stealing" their local power.
