I have another option approval suggestion;

After filling out the application with the appropriate risk boxes checked, write a letter detailing your understanding of options, detail what you plan to do with the appropriate approvals, and reiterate your understanding of the risk.

If you still get no where. Change brokers. Brown and Co will let you do almost anything. From the very beginning with a $15,000 deposit and the right application boxes checked. From day one. Naked Calls, Sell Puts, Create spreads, just whatever.

Richard

I hope you are not considering turning a "long term, capital preservation position" into a "speculation fund" where you learn to trade options where many have just as good of results at the race track.

Some of the people here seem to do really well, but you really don't know for sure and they just might have the skills of professional gamblers that make a living gambling.

I have a friend that traded as a professional for years at a large Sand Hill firm who retired to windsurf and fight the airport expansion to fill the Bay full time.... he's been telling me about leaps but he also told me Exoxus was a good buy at $50.

I'd advise paper trading for a full cycle or limiting your gambling to a set amount that you can afford to lose.

good luck
Kirk

I have traded options with edreyfus since they were pacific brokerage. Their staff is friendly and most people get approve for options transations except naked calls. If problems call Gary Martino at 800-416-7113. Check their web site at edreyfus.com. I have roth and regular account with them. For naked puts they require $20,000 in addition to the margin required for the trade. Commisions are $12 or $1.75 per contract whichever is greater.

I also trade options with mrstock.com. They are pretty good and geared towards options trader. Their commission are $25 minimum. check their website at mrstock.com

I am individual trader and not affiliated with any brokers. It is easy to get approved at above brokers but please understand the risks before any trade is placed.
