I realized almost as soon as I had posted that my thoughts were written poorly. There are also people which I feel should not own guns, You hope that people will have good sense and understand their limitations. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't, but things work that way in a free society. However, the damage done by individuals making poor choices is far less than what could be expected by a organized and repressive government. I well understand the story you shared. My lifelong best friend from childhood broke his neck at 18 in a diving accident. He recovered very well considering the injury and only required a cane to walk. At 39 after struggling 21 years with his injury and a body that was then getting older, he gave up and ended his life. After 6 years I still miss him, but most of the anger is now gone.
