A person can't get rich on (your stated) 33% additional slice of salary, but I think a person can get rich on stock. Of course, that means 'sharing' in the good & bad times, and sticking it through to the other end of the tunnel.

This assumes, I gather, that you don't invest that extra 33% every year in the stock market, right?

Cisco is a stock company, not a cash company

that is fine as long as the market makes stock worth more than cash. when stock becomes "worth less", CASH IS KING for csco and everyone else.

During an economic boom, people forget that good times don't last forever. During a recession, people forget that bad times don't last forever.

during the aftermath of an economic boom of record length, people may forget that bad times could surely last as long as the preceding good times.
