Slacker, Q has often spoke of NOK being an early licensee, but I don't recall any talk of a low royalty. Since we speculated the large adjustment in royalties for the Dec quarter was due(in part) to NOK, and considering the size of the adjustment, I would think they do not have a sweetheart deal.

Slacker, Nope!! I know that Mot and Lucent received favorable terms but not Nokia. In actuality, none of us know the actual rates of any of these agreements. Analysts have tried to back into the rates but the results are only a SWAG.

<<I could have sworn that Nokia had a better than average deal. Does anybody else's memory match mine?>>

Appreciate all of the responses....looks like I was confused.

The deal looks a hell of a lot better knowing that Nokia will be paying the industry standard rate. I would assume that the timing of this deal is due to the fact that Nokia is shipping W-CDMA infrastructure. I hope that the size of these royalties is addressed during the CC. It would seem like even a 1% rate would have some effect on earnings.

I do not recall anything to the effect that NOK had a more favorable rate. I do recall MOT had one, in part, because it was involved in early cdma research.
