So what do you propose? Revolution?

The fact that the United States was never intended to be a democracy is so well known that it is now completely forgotten.
I would say that this means you and Gore slept through your American Government classes. In fact, this is well known.

No, the United States was not intended to be a democracy; it was intended to be a federal republic. If you don't know that, maybe you're too ignorant to be voting.

Do the many really hold the opinions of the few who own the political process? It would seem not since only half the eligible voters can bring themselves to vote in a Presidential election while only a third vote in off-year congressional elections.
Well, we could have troops round up voters and drag them to the polls on election day. Does that sound better?
How about a $10,000 fine for anyone who doesn't vote?
OTOH, we could just let them decide whether or not they want to vote.

Nah. Not statist enough.

You want your vote to count? Then vote.

These happy few are prepared to pay a high and rising price for the privilege of controlling our government.
But in fact laws are passed in this country that wealth does not approve of. The Patients' Bill of Rights has a good chance of passage in spite of corporate opposition. In CA some years back, Prop 103 to lower car insurance passed heavily- -in spite of strong opposition by the insurance industry. It outspent the proponents (who won the election by 10 to 1.)
