I don't think judgmental and small-minded folks are happy. Self-satisfied, yes. Self-righteous, yes. But open-armed, deep-breathing, non-defensive sleeping well at night? I doubt it.

It simply takes too much energy to maintain that level of bitterness.

I remember a number of discussions I had with my mother when I was a young adult, about accepting things as they are. It seemed so weak and defeatist to me at the time. I see the strength in that stance now.
