Robert..what can we expect?

Nothing will happen until AMAT gets past 65. or until the third Friday in October arrives. Its possible that AMAT could go to 70 in Sept. and then retreat to 60 in Oct. (Oct is such a cruel month ) No matter what happens the call premium is yours to keep

The poorest outcome would be the following two.

AMAT rises to 70 and you get called out at 65 plus the call premium of $3.00.

AMAT falls to 40 you keep your shares and the $3.00 call premium..

I find it interesting that so many posters feel that a stock like AMAT will go to a hundred as soon as they sell a covered call on it.

I would be delighted to spend $50,000 for 1000 shares of AMAT today and get called out at $65,000 on the third Friday of October along with $3000.00 call premium. That would be an $18,000 gain on a $50,000 investment in 110 days. Just what the heck do you want from an investment????????

Your greed is showing through. And its that kind of fixation on greed that inhibits taking short term profits on your part.

OK Robert tell me this.... Brian has posted about 100 postings about the semi-equipment and chip slowdown.

Darn near every tech company is going to report a lousy quarter this quarter and an equally bad quarter in October.

The Fed is cutting interest rates but the economy is not responding.

The P.E.'s on most tech stocks is abnormally high compared to historical standards

Intel may not spend the same amount for equipment next year if the chip sector remains sluggish.

The Telephone component of the chip sector is going no where until the first part of next year (see the Motorola and Flextronics announcement posted today)

Exactly what will be the driver for this sector?

As I see it we will be lucky to maintain current stock prices on most tech companies. We are closer to a meltdown then we are to a sharp swing upward.

Do really believe that investors will keep buying AMAT at $50.00 a share with no earnings in sight?

I think you better save that bell, its tolling a warning..... take the cotton out of your ears.

Have a good 4th ....drink plenty of beer.....and curse the posters that don't agree with you...

Regards, Jerome
