It depends on exactly what you get, but the answer is likely yes. It is likely that whatever you are looking at is an 802.11 compliant product.

The spec has varying data rates dependent on the distance from the access point (antenna).

Mine is 802.11b compliant which has a range of 2Mbps to 11Mbps depending on the distance. I use it going through 4 walls with no problem and have used it out in my yard.
