The Constitution [and it's amendments] is pretty clear about who has the ultimate authority to interpret the Consitution. The Supreme Court. It appears that our newly appointed Attorney General disagrees with this notion.

washingtonpost.com

Given his letter to the NRA, it seems that Ashcroft believes that the Attorney General has the authority to interpret the Constitution above that of the most recent 100 years of court decisions including that of the Supreme Court, see US vs. Miller, in direct violation of his oath to uphold the Constitution.

It seems that the Senate has approved the appointment of a subversive [to the principles of the Constitution] as Attorney General.
