These are legitimate, brick-and-mortar companies saying that the Internet is going to drive revenues and reduce costs. We're just scratching the surface on that, so the opportunity is absolutely enormous for the next 10 years.

David Jewelers is moving their business onto the internet too. Otherwise, we would get left behind like many of our competitors.

The efficience is huge from our supplers to our communication with our customers. We can buy product in dmeand 24 hours per day. We can very in stock and out of stock situations. Employee efficieny is greatly increased. We are open evenings but our vendors are not. My employees may buy certain category products for replacement during slower evenings and the vendor has the order in the AM when we are busier marking in new product, receiving customer calls, etc. This year we upgraded Filemaker Pro to operate on our server. We have used it in the past as a database for certain inventory functions. Now it calculates the drop in staple products and once the dollar amount is high enough to make shipping economical, it emails the order to our supplers.

I am not sure what I2 software is all about. I suspect it does the same tasks better but my guess is it is costly enough to be of use for a larger firm.

Just some passing thoughts.....
