Revolution in 1776 What revolution? It was a Civil War.

George Washington writing to his friends in 1775 saying, (paraphrased), "We want fair treatment, but if anyone says that I am against the King, either they or I have gone crazy", was a civil war.

Tom Paine's publication of "Common Sense" on Jan 10th, 1776, and his writing of the first draft of the "Declaration of Independence" in late June of 1776, published on July 4th under the authorship of Thomas Jefferson, caused a revolution.
