That would be my take on the news coverage as well. Of course the floor reporters are reading scripts or notes given by analists and the like so one should not expect them to really understand the import of the news. When I heard it my first thought was "Game Over". From my cursory review of postings here and on RS's thread, that would seem to be the consensus. No news is good, gives me time to get a position.
