It makes sense. Consumers are late to react. They'll continue to spend before they wake up. The consumers directly affected by the Tech implosion are experiencing the wake-up call right now IMO. It's evident if one spends time reading the Mercury News, and related media in Tech related cities.

Though the view that the Fed may be, as they say, pushing on a string, and that current interventions or attempted interventions are merely delaying some future very painful re-adjustment, and quite possibly exacerbating it, remains a minority view, but it's out there. I think that some of those who remain more hopeful but do fear that consumers might finally pull back are depending on signs of renewed strength in the stock market and in critical sectors to re-create the "positive feedback loop"/wealth effect that was so much a part of the '90s bull.
