I saw "Tomb Raider" this afternoon with my 14 year old son. Aside from a lot of action sequences which were quite good and, of course, Angelina Jolie's pout, I'd have to say the film has little to recommend it.

isn't there a wee bunch of hot rocks in a sauna upon which one can pour water and make steam?

I think so. I haven't been in a sauna in a long time. Way too hot for me. I think the cloudiness is a matter of degree. You get some from the rocks but not so much that you can't see everyone sitting around in a sauna. In a steam room you can't see the nose on your face.

Re the Fourth, it just started raining hard here. Not a good sign for the fireworks. I hadn't planned to go. I used to go regularly because they put on a great show at the Capitol but, well, been there, done that. When I first moved here, I lived in a wonderful duplex apartment overlooking the Iwo Jima Memorial. Two story high picture windows and a huge balcony. Used to have parties there every Fourth. Best view of the festivities in town. The Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument were lined up in a row right beneath us. It's nice to have a quiet Fourth, too.
