Adam,

I am sorry to hear that you are leaving Intel. North Carolina is actually a very nice relocation, can't get too much better IMHO, so you must have some very strong ties in St. Louis.

Short sighted of Intel, IHO, for discounting telecommuters.

Good luck and welcome to the thread as a civilian.

John

Adam, I'm also sorry to hear of your decision, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm sure you'll land on your feet very quickly because of your smarts, background and experience (maybe you have something else now?).

Being a stubborn Missouri native my entire life, I turned down a nice promotion and big raise, and decided to accept the generous separation package (including the free PC, which I'm typing on now).

Sounds like New Englanders. When I moved to Cal. during a bad tech recession years ago, friends decided to stay in N.E., which was much worse off than Cal. and a couple of engineers mowed lawns, then shoveled snow rather than move out here where there were jobs. One guy wouldn't even consider Southern N.H, vs. Greater Boston.

Best of Luck.

Tony

Good luck, Adam. We gotta work to live, not live to work. You'll find plenty to do, post Intel. Have fun!

Best of luck to you, Adam. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision to leave Intel, and I'll bet that you'll be sorely missed by your immediate coworkers and managers. It says a lot that you continue to be bullish on Intel even after your departure.

I look forward to future posts from you now that you are no longer "Inside Intel." Take care!

Adam, Thanks for your update and best of luck.

I spent a few very happy years in Chapel Hill and wouldn't mind a move back to NC. Still, I applaud you for honoring your ties and staying in Missouri. It's good to know what's important and what you want.

Your arguments for telecommuting might have been more easily accepted in a different economic environment. Stay with us and keep contributing.

I'll keep looking for your posts. dmf
