I didn't post Tuesday's numbers until this afternoon, JRI. It wasn't really an oversight. I'd stated recently which way I thought the market was headed, and the latest Complacency Index numbers only confirmed that view.

I calculate the indexes with daily data with an Excel spreadsheet each evening. I don't always post the results, since I don't want to bore people with them.

It's not a hindsight trading system, funnily enough. The sell signals were there earlier this week. I ain't just lookin' back and saying they were there. What can I say? Every blind pig finds an acorn once in a while. The system sure isn't infallible. And I could still be wrong this time around.

I don't have today's data downloaded yet, but the Complacency indexes fell today -- I can tell you that based on how the Naz and S&P fared. That means the Complacency indexes are in a downtrend. Whether they'll reverse is another question entirely.

I don't claim to be able to predict the market. I claim that I can't predict it. Indexes, schmindexes. Sometimes they're helpful; sometimes they're not.
