Jacob,

re: We aren't in a recession now, because we haven't had 2 quarters of negative GDP growth.

Uh, the second quarter just ended, we don't have the GDP figures yet. We are in the third quarter. We could be over half way through a recession. You never know a recession has started, except in retrospect.

re: Sure, some would rather be optimistic. They aren't buying now, because they were optimistic (and fully invested) at much higher levels.

How do you know who is or isn't buying now?

The point is to hold for the very long term, or to buy low and sell high. The only thing I know (and it seems to be one more thing than you know) is we are closer to the low than to the high.

re: I don't invest based on WAGs.

Sounds like it to me. Where is your definitive opinion on the direction of the market?

The truth is, NOBODY KNOWS where the market is going, and there is more risk being out than being in. Especially after a severe downturn. It's the only thing that history has taught us.
