if amd is in red or below expectations and intel is ok then the price war will continue. OTOH if both of the companies are hurting they might cool it a bit.

Hard to say...My guess, with the q2 earnings slide we've seen in AMD, if corroborated by a similarly large (in a relative sense) slide by INTC (i.e red perhaps), is that the markets in general are headed south...q2, q3 were supposed to be turnaround quarters not quarters evidencing an acceleration in the economic downturn.
