Wish I hadn't brought it up. I consider it more inept/misguided/inexperienced than evil. Quite a few sites do it that way. I consider it a "bad thing" for any site to do things that way, but it's obvious going into such a site that that's the way they do it, so I can't imagine how anyone can claim that such a site has hurt them by doing it that way.
