Re: they have been claiming all year that they were gaining market share, only to admit now that Intel is getting some back.

They had their best unit quarter ever -

Dan, I said to Combjelly earlier that I was mistaken about their losing market share...I inferred that conclusion based on the size of the miss in revs. and EPS.

I respect your opinion but having said that, I think its a major exaggeration to say that AMD had its best anything quarter when it has missed so badly. Giving away chips in order to gain market share serves no one.....except maybe the customers getting those chips.

IMO Intel and AMD are in a very dangerous game in which no one will win and where AMD stands to lose far worse than Intel.

and for this coming quarter they are moving into mobile again surprisingly quickly, and even dabbling in SMP.

AMD is continuing to gain market share, despite Intel's doing everything they can to try to slow them down.

Right now, it seems that AMD's market share gain is a pyrrhic victory if its margins are starting to slip significantly......and that would appear to be the case.

Danny,

Re: "AMD is also showing the full cost of its capex as depreciation on
its income statement - so it can keep going at the present rate indefinitely,
even if it reports near zero earnings ... Intel is spending $1.5 Billion more
per quarter than they are willing to recognize ..."

More of your same old crap, Danny ? You need a "new schtick".

Make It so,
