Sell off triggered by profit taking and EMC pre-announcement of bad earnings. Note the MSFT broke the convering 50 day and 100 day EMA's. MSFT has been one of the strong stocks. It is not technical broken. Not a good sign. Similar situation with GE.

Close The major averages closed out the week on a decidedly negative note. The Dow posted a 227-point loss for the session while the Nasdaq just barely managed to hold the 2,000 level. The one silver lining in today's trade activity was that total volume traded on both the Nasdaq and the NYSE was notably light. Yet losses on light volume are little consolation for investors holding the wrong stocks today...
