DRBES:

"It would appear to be an almost infallible contrary indicator for bad news and a significant downside move precursor for AMD common is when we both agree in our optimism, as we recently have."

In retrospect, it would seem so!

"The question remains as to whether there is enough almost universal pessimism and hyper-activity on this thread ( another almost infallible contrary indicator ) to signal that the resultant downside move is near maturity and that this is a "buying opportunity". That is a limb, out onto which I feel unable to crawl with any confidence."

The quarterly slide in profits and the year over yer slide in revenues cannot be positively construed...unless of course, one is a true contraruian...Think I'll sit on the sidelines for a spell 'til the economic storm clouds begin to show "tangible" signs of dispersion!

"Of course, the underpinnings are always changing. One set of factors that is very different now is the percentage of and the patience of the very large capital that has recently evolved into the dominant collective ownership of AMD lately."

Agreed. The overiding determinant in all of this is when will the downturn end and at what rate will recovery take place! It would seem that AMD still performs above its peers' norm in this dismal economic climate and that in any improved economic climate, AMD remains positioned tooutperform the norm.
