When I was a probation officer, I sometimes placed girls in homes temporarily. One of the teens accused the husband in her placement of molesting her. It was a mess. She was a known liar and very manipulative. And the people were so kind, I had gotten to know them very well and liked them a lot, and they did this as a favor and weren't getting any money for it. NO one believed the girl, but the police got involved becuase of the accusation. Lie detector tests on her were inconclusive. The man refused to take any. I removed her from the home, but never believed her. Then I stayed with them for a few weeks when I was returning to grad school and my lease had run out. One night his wife was out of town, and he came after me.
All I could think was Oh god, that poor teen. She was telling the truth and no one believed her...
