> The tax cut is bogus. There's no way we'll ever get a meaningful tax cut until we get enough Republicans to keep the liberals from filibustering

Lets assume everyone gets a 20% tax cut, (or whatever you consider being as a meaningful tax cut). My question to you then is:

Do you promise and cross your heart not to compalin about losing the social benefits you are getting right now (e.g. medicare, medical, social security, education, etc., etc., etc.)?!

If your answer is a solid YES, then please say hello to the wizard when you meet him in the land of OZ.

However, your assertion on the Bush's tax cut being as bogus is so correct! In fact I go further and state that it is the best way (in the long run) to be screwed, blued and tatooed by an administration lead by a total moron accidental president!

Regards,

- Addi

P.S - Incidentally I rather pay high taxes, but make so much that the money I end up keeping far far exceeds any tax cut money I get plus the money I end up keeping in an economic model that is based on tax cuts!

Agreed. The damnedest thing is that the Democrats probably even agree with the Republicans in principle. The problem is that the Democrats oppose anything the Republicans want to do, not because they disagree with the ideas, but because they don't want the Republicans to be too successful at anything, otherwise they gain too much power. Our political system is broken. We can start with elimination of the electoral college. Then we can replace all voting booths with web based voting applications and allow web connected individuals to vote online. Next, we should have an independent congressional house devoted to measuring the economic viability of any policy, complete with veto power for nonviable proposals. Anyway, the list goes on and the tax burden continues to grow larger, while the benefits increasingly shrink.
