true on shorting...but many have the loophole to do options and besides. Buying and selling a few 250K blocks or 2M share blocks can work to swing the price..NO?

Surely it's not the HF's marking up and DOWN certain stocks into month and qter ends. That the MF guys, IMO.

I agree...there are some scamming liar cork smoking evil hedge funds out there...BUT that is small compared to games the MF people play.

I'd like to see the SEC regs on that. Can you point to them? It's my understanding that most mutual funds are prevented from shorting or buying puts by their prospectus (i.e. by choice). I'm aware of at least half a dozen funds that short, buy puts and sell calls, trade futures, etc.
