"I am amazed at how well Intel is holding up."

It's the old maxim 'If AMD has troubles, then Intel is the cause. If Intel has troubles, it's the whole sector, AMD is not the cause.'

This hurts, I considered selling yesterday morning a little over $29 as I anticipated a little softness in the market. Boy have I missed some great timing opportunities in the last couple months. I've just been too optimistic lately, and haven't considered the downside to this price war. Hopefully a good quantity of Athlon 4 notebooks and lower tier Athlon MP servers will help stem the ASP tide for 3Q and beyond.

I think AMD was due some correction this morning, but $7.50 is a little much. EMC is also down about 25% on their warning yesterday.

Kash,

<I shorted 20K Intel at $29 last night>

That may be a good move. ASPs seem to have fallen quite a bit since Intel's late quarter update. The unknown here is Intel's server business. If that part went up significantly from Q1, then Intel may still make its forecast.

Good luck,
Chuck
