<I still think AMD is in allot better shape then the K6 days.>

It sure is. AMD today has a lot more competitive product position and a MUCH stronger balance sheet. And Intel is in the middle of product transition which will take a year or more to complete. People expecting AMD to go back to K6 days have to wait for a very long time.

But that doesn't change the fact that AMD squandered a golden opportunity and is faced with decreasing profits from the glory days of 2000. Just about the only things that will change the gloomy forecast is Intel's product transition gotchas or a smart uptick in microprocessor business (both of which seem unlikely right now)

<Forgetting this quarter, what are the things you want to see happen in the next 60 days?>

1. Business win. That is the single most important thing AMD can do at this point in time.

2. Rapidly increase of Duron MHz and pushing for volume on that product is the other thing that AMD could do (I see better potential for corporate design win in desktop and mobile Duron than any other product that AMD has).

3. Drop the server Athlon MP prices to parity with desktop pricing and gain as much server business as possible. AMD is going to need significant server market share next year to make up for desktop business losses.
