John,

<Just asking the question, not sure raising prices is the answer for AMD. I'm looking ahead, and unless there is a dramatic change in the marketplace, it's probable that AMD will again start to lose money. And burn cash. >

Anything is possible but I predict things will be better in Q3 primarily due to the extremely competitive laptop product lineup and secondarily due to seasonal uptick.

<All the conditions that made AMD successful over the last year or so seem to be coming to an end. >

Mostly.

<I wondering where they go from here.>

Focus on getting corporate design wins and pray that the next generation product does not slip anymore.

<(Generally speaking, I would rather sell 100 widgets and make $10. than sell 200 widgets and lose $10.) >

Generally speaking, I agree. But in the context of semiconductor business, it is hard to find companies that are successful/profitable in the long term with small market shares. Think hard and see how many examples you can comeup with.

Chuck

RE:"(Generally speaking, I would rather sell 100 widgets and make $10. than sell 200 widgets and lose $10.)"

Why don't you ask the question on INTC tread, why Intel are selling:
$166 - Pentium 4 1.4GHz
$148 - Pentium 4 1.3GHz
$172 Pentium III 1GHz
$91 Pentium III 750
$84 - Celeron 850
$64 - Celeron 800
$44 - Celeron 700
