<Why would anyone want to invest in a company that doesn't try to get a equivalent price for marketing a equivalent product?

Sell em cheap, lose money, but get the evil Intel. Real investor friendly.>

I've said many times before that Jerry only cares about his bonuses, and f*cking Intel. Not for investors. Now that he's as wealthy as he is, and on his way out, his only goal seems to be to screw Intel.

Economically, AMD ought to sell its processors at a price that maximizes its profits. Given that marginal costs are probably low to negligible compared to fixed costs, that means, approximately, maximizing its revenues. Currently, they seem to be pricing to move everything they can produce, which is not a sophisticated decision, but makes sense when going for market share.

The "equivalent price" thing assumes that AMD could match Intel in marketing and other activities with OEMs. Intel has a lot of other screws to turn besides marketing with the OEMs that AMD could never match. AMD is better off in a price war than in war by other means.

The only saving grace for AMD vs. Intel these days is that while AMD has flash dragging it down, Intel has flash and comms and other crap, oops, I mean diversifications and investments. Like last year's much vaunted $10 billion Intel Crap account that's now worth what?
