Dan, <the fact remains that AMD has been holding its own while bleeding Intel badly since it started this price war about 3 quarters ago.>

You never cease to amaze me, Dan. Remember how a week ago you were stating that AMD's ASP was $96 and their flash business was profitable:

In the 10Q report to the SEC dated may 15, 2001, AMD stated that they need to invest 1 billion dollars in their Dresden and USA plants during 2001. In the same report AMD also described their amended Dresden Loan Agreement of February 2001. The report contains a statement "In the event we (AMD) are unable to meet our obligation to make loans to, or equity investments in, AMD Saxony as required under the Dresden Loan Agreement....we(AMD) will be in default..., which would have a material adverse effect on us. We cannot assure that we will be able to obtain the funds necessary to fulfill these obligations. Any such failure would have a material adverse effect on us."

It looks as if AMD ability to secure additional loans may be compromised by their price-war with INTEL.

Dan-

Can't tell from the context, but are you saying that intel started the price war?
