Paul,
My own business tells me that 4th quarter should begin the rebound in the economy. All hopes for midyear are gone now. Companies are holding on to the IT dollars for as long as they can. In my field, which is financial tech, critical decisions need to be made for next upcycle. They certainly dont want to embarrass themselves in front of shareholders by spending the money too soon, but they certainly dont wan to be using old tech when the market rebounds. Schwab/Merrill sets the standards for brokers that others must follow, if they wish to survive. Perhaps this is typical of other industries? Also, any thoughts on industry leaders throwing in the towel on earnings for this years and concentrating on market share instead. I am talking specifically about intel, amat, cisco, and emc. Mike
