The timing of this is interesting.

Could the late announcement be due to AMD hoping to balance the negative news with a Dell win which fell through at the last moment?

Pure idiocy, of course, but a stunt like that appeals irresistibly to certain personality types.

Stranded at the altar yet again. :)

Looks like Dell doesn't want to buy discount microprocessors:

I think Dell is buying a lot of discount processors (Celerons) and non-discount processors (Pentium) at discount, but Intel brand only. I think the subject of Dell+AMD has been beaten to death, and I think is a complete waste of bandwidth.
