I had coffee with a Fulbright scholar the other day. She is a U.S. lady that is studying the vanishing languages of the Dakota, Lakota, Nakota and Assiniboia Indians here in Canada. Every funding agency in the U.S. turned her request down. Since the same Indians live here she applied to Canada and immediately got four grants which got her cash a car and an invitation to live on a Rez up here.

No one bothered to tell the funding agency in Canada that the languages are no longer spoken in their original form and no one bothered to tell this knocked scholar that all the buffalo are gone and they ain't coming back. The real crime is no taxpayer was consulted to approve of the legitimacy of this area of study. Although to her credit she had a low opinion of Noam Chomsky.

We live in a world where the media is spoon fed by experts, and any academic with an agenda qualifies.

Most people look on these creations as beautiful and as embodying artistic heritage. I am sorry that it so offended Western society.

Just the Western society Brees ? There was the immediate
destruction of some Mosques in India as a result of
the Taliban's actions.

What law of the Universe would you call this ?

How shallow can a religion be , that plagiarizes
almost 90% of it's scriptures from former religions,
and teaches almost a 100% Buddhist
idea of a Creator?

The All Merciful and The All Compassionate ?
That Mohammed's five pillars of Islam
resemble Buddhism's spirituality and asceticism,
meditation , fasting , and approach
almost exactly.

The differences in reality are minimal , accept as you say
that when the Buddhist's occupied Afghanistan , they
weren't oppressors .

Oh , the statues bother you ?
But 20 and 30ft posters on the side
of buildings of the Ayahtolas didn't ?

However, the idols represented something far more than merely offensive to modern Afghan culture. Its close to making a Jewish person in Israel pass by a sculpture of a Swastica or a statue of Hitler and appreciate the beauty the artist intended and respectful of the Germans of the period. The Afghans were not tyrannized by Buddists but they believe idol worship is even more destructive than being gassed.

Such a hysterical, narrow , and shallow view of
man's great traditions and spiritual teachings
that is being pushed here . Islam is experiencing
today a classic "blow-off" top , just like the market
does ....eventually mankind will moderate itself and
draw equally from all great cultural, democratic and
religious & philosophical traditions
of the world ....

Even Islam will have to learn to share the mountain top
and come out of the children's sandbox some day. Men
playing at God , was all it was . Seeing this , human society
will move on , and integrate the best of each .

Lord SIVA is very patient....

namaste,

;-)

PS: Did you say "Modern " Afghanistan culture?
You are too funny ....
