I've not looked into similar proceedings, but GAAP says you have to write it off when it becomes likely to be uncollectible. A judgement, to be sure, and this is not a quarter the auditors will be reviewing before release, but still I'd think the way things are looking they'd really be stretching if they just left it on their books.
