X was being critical of the Taliban, which is a strange position for a true relativist to take.

I don't see why. X said that the behaviour of tha Taleban is offensive to her own personal moral code, not that it violated some absolute or abstract moral standard.

At least X is consistent, unlike some others, who accept behaviour from their co-religionists that they would denounce as utterly immoral in anyone else.

I was merely pointing out that relativists, like X, are much less likely to play the ugly-American role than others. Regarding her criticism of the Taliban, she was quite explicit that she was comparing them to her personal values. She's allowed to have personal values, isn't she?
