"..Korea's experience in 1x will be a major asset to all the CDMA operators in the world.."

Yep.

And Korea's experience in 1x is making Korea's carriers and vendors (especially SK) a power player within 3GPP.

It seems to be finally dawning on an obtuse 3GPP membership (carriers at least) that contributions from those actually experienced with cdma networks may be helpful in designing a cdma standard.

Power is shifting within 3GPP. NOK's recent losses are not limited to their Q capitulation..... all European vendors, certainly including NOK, are losing influence and stature within 3GPP, as Asia forges ahead...

And even Japan (NTT, NEC, etc.) will learn to defer to SK and LG and Samsung.... in 3GPP's quest for a viable, functioning, mature standard.

And in my view, SK's very active involvement with 3GPP makes their recent decision to delay their widely advertised and promoted wCDMA 3G network until 2003-2004 even more meaningful, and places NTT's prospects for network success in the near or mid-term in perspective....
