Unfortunately i agree with you. The USA is the importer who has found her costs are to high. Our standard of living was so much better because our dollar bought much. However during the period where the delivery of the products from the outside boosted our own economy we also entered into a fictional growth that brought about increased costs and little in the way of future growth other than what natural populous increase demands.
I feel that as we have moved elsewhere to reduce costs the currency cannot assist bottom lines to profit. The era of new economy or new is better does not take into account that anything is better when you have nothing. So profits outside will not be not awesome to say the least as awesome is not required to be better.

The next round of destruction could very well come from bottom line achievement being nil due to currency and a slowing economy here.
