Bush/Cheney have huge influence with OPEC. They rescued them from Iraq. Duh. Even have Colin Powell in there. The same exact crew. Think OPEC's going to protest holding back supplies (which they did) to make an extra trillion bucks? The gouging was world-wide my friend, and had nothing to do with any real scarcity of oil or gas, just those at the switches turning the power off. See the Duke Energy story again if you don't believe me.

"You mean OPEC. That's a foreign outfit. Bush/Cheney do not influence"

For all of our sakes, you'd better hope that they have influence or else we really do have the wrong guys in office.....Bear in mind dear jla, we will be increasingly more dependent on foreign oil as long as we continue to use oil at the rates we are using it...... Oil production in the US peaked in about 1971 and has been coming down ever since, ergo we are increasingly dependent on OPEC and others for our oil....
