Eric L: Yes we do approach the "tornado watch" from different points of view, but there are some common ideas.

There is no mobile wireless data tornado yet.

There will be one.

(But there may not be a new gorilla as such)

[Altho I will be satisfied with Qualcomm continuing as CDMA gorilla with a dominant position in mobile wireless data in the future (3 to 5 years)]

[And I see no other candidate.]

What shape/form the data tornado will take is not clear.

But is is well worth watching, since the market for mobile wireless data / internet (intranet) is likely to be substantial.

Suggest that we revisit from time to time to see what progress is being made.

As with Korea and China, seems like while it is fun to speculate, only time will tell.

Best.

Note: IMO the World Cup in May 2002 should be a key event around which to measure progress, since to me a major data milestone will be real time wireless video streaming. (Using CDMA 2000 <G>)
