130nm, SOI, Hammer, etc ramp was planned in a go go environment of the year 2000 with revenue expectations in over the $1.2B range. Even then it was understood that there will be a squeeze on profits. The demand situation is much different now. I would not be surprised if some of the 130nm and SOI ramp delays are being instituted to save money.

AMD has been very conservative with their finances over the last year and 1/2, even though it looked like the good times of y2k were here to stay forever. I think the wise moves will pay off now in the period of drought. I was advocating buying back the convertible bonds with cash, and now I see that it would not have been a good thing.
