Hi energyplay,

Re: Frac technology & horizontal drilling for attacking shale & lime formations has turned previousl uneconomic (but know) areas into producible reserves, but mostly for natural gas.

There was an interesting segment on NPR's Weekend Morning Edition yesterday that discussed new methane extraction in England's abandoned coal mines. While not a huge source of energy, it is a twofer, eliminating greenhouse gas emissions as well as providing fuel to several tens of thousands of residences. Here's a PR blurb on the company:

There are projects in China as well:

Can West Virginia be next?

Best, Ray :)
