if you short under 5 bucks or if it goes under 5 bucks you still have to maintain $5 per share in account equity. So it ties up capital and borrowing power and under $3 may not be worth it.


I have been trying to explain that to people for years.

Yes I can Short under $5

Yes I am Canadian...

Yes it is possible....

But...it is both very difficult and stupid.

THe meatheads on Ragingbull have this theory that every Canadian walking the street is short their crap OTC 1 cent stock.

Good luck finding shares to borrow.

and...if you do happen to find shares available..

well watch that sucker shoot up 400% as soon as your short goes through...

No thanks....

Stick with shorting the really good stocks like IVIL.
